Tonight at 8:00 p.m. on TNT the New York Knicks (3-4) will try to carry the momentum from backing up owner James Dolan's guarantee of a win in Atlanta on Wednesday night into the Garden against Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets (5-4). Watch the game on TNT or live stream it here. Rockets fans can listen to the game on KBME Sports Talk 790, while Knicks fans can hear the game on 98.7 ESPN New York.
Tonight marks the return of Jeremy Lin to the place where "Linsanity" was born. He had a 34-point outburst last night against the Philadelphia 76ers in a Houston loss, building excitement for his Garden comeback. Lin drilled a career-high nine 3-pointers in the loss, but was still down on his own performance.
"It was my worst defensive game of the season," Lin said. "Tomorrow has to be my best defensive game of the season." Lin was relegated as a player off the bench at the season's outset, but has found himself starting most of the time due to injuries to Patrick Beverley and James Harden.
The Knicks seem less concerned about Lin's return than they do about maintaining the success they had against Atlanta. "Oh, man, it was a great way to kind of get back on track," Carmelo Anthony said. "Any time you can win on the road, that's always a big win."
The Knicks may be catching a break with Harden nursing a foot injury. He was absent from Wednesday night's loss and is considered a game-time decision. With Harden absent, a backcourt of Beverley and Lin figures to be a liability against the Knicks' penetrating backcourt, especially with J.R. Smith in the starting five.
The reigning Sixth Man of the Year started his first game of the year for the Knicks and shot 4-of-10 and added 12 points, while nailing 3-of-7 from the 3-point line.
