The NBA trade deadline is now roughly a month away, which means rumors are running forcefully. There will be a serious uptick in conversation about potential trades.
In-season trade movements have been reduced dramatically since the 2011 CBA which affects the length of contracts, but there is always an opportunity in NBA for adding a significant player. There are so many options, and just not enough to choose anyone at this point. Here are the five big-name players who likely to be dealt before the NBA trade Deadline.
Brandon Knight: He has a really tempting surface listing. He is an athletic point guard, who can shoot and get to the rim. He was an NBA's impact player that made plays and looked to be coming to his own.
Knight shoots less than 40 percent from the field, and 36 percent from 3-point range. He currently holds the second-worst total plus-minus in the NBA.
Ricky Rubio: He is a great passer, and can be a great defender for his team in NBA. He shoots 42 percent around the basket, and 24 percent from 3-point range. As expressed in the CBSports, for some of the NBA teams, getting Ricky Rubio would be a great idea. Teams will go under screens in pick-and-roll situations all the time which helps in staying home on shooters.
DeMarcus Cousins: He is the most talented man in the NBA right now. He is capable enough to take over and dominating every facet of the game. As mentioned in the Fox News, he has had success in NBA with coaches that challenged but also empathized with him. His personality is fierce, tantrums are legendary and talent is undeniable.
Jahlil Okafor: He is on a rookie contract, and league executives think that he can be a good NBA player. His size alone is a benefit and his defense is too rough. Any NBA team that trade for him is getting a big talent with top-five-pick value. A better-established role and the scheme will manage his impact in the team.
Goran Dragic: He is on a contract through 2020; if he turns down early termination in 2019 for NBA, he is on the books for $54 million. He needs the ball in his hand, and that is an issue for a team that would need him. He is good to not have the ball, but not too good enough to demand it on good teams. Only time will tell which of these players are moved by February 23rd. It could shake up the NBA with just Ricky Rubio and Jahlil Okafor being traded.
