Beneil Dariush an Assyrian-American professional fighter who competes in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is said to be affected by the recent decision by The US President Donald Trump's executive order of immigration. Dariush was born in Iran which falls in the list of one of the seven Muslim countries which are being affected by Trump's travel ban. This decision has certainly created some amount of chaos in the country and there is a huge protest going on which started from the airport across the U.S.
Dariush has been staying in California from 1999 and he has a match scheduled for the next month at U.S. against Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Night 107 event in Fortaleza, Brazil on March 11 as reported in MMAmania. Now Darius who is 27 has not many concerns about entering the country as he has the citizenship of U.S.
But situation for his fellow fighter from middleweight Gegard Mousasi who is also from Iran but hold a citizenship of Dutch. Before this latest proposal, Mousasi has been expressing his concern about entering the U.S. for a fight on April 8 at New York as reported by ESPN. UFC has few amount of players who have their family relations with the seven banned countries and Mousasi being from Iran comes under that list.
Mousasi is scheduled to fight at UFC 210 with Chris Wiedman in New York. "I have the Dutch nationality, but I also have a visa," Mousasi told Telesport and added "But even with a visa you get in trouble, I heard. I'll hear more about it this week, though. The UFC lawyers are busy, and the people who arrange the visas are too. So it is not in my hands. My job is to train and get ready for the game. It's just annoying."
So a player like Dariush who is a Christian but says he does sympathize with the people who are affected by the ban. Dariush said,"I think the idea of protecting American citizens is great, but the way they are going about it is wrong." Apart from all this Darius says he is concentrated on the fight next month as he has won seven out of last eight fights and would not take Barboza very lightly.
