Bernard Hopkins Next Fight: Floyd Mayweather Called Out By B-Hop? 'Alien' Says Current Options Vs. Mayweather Won't Sell Tickets [VIDEO]

Most boxing observers rolled their eyes when rumors hit the web that Amir Khan would be Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s next opponent, and since then that chatter has cooled.

After Floyd outclassed Canelo Alvarez, supposedly the biggest threat to his pound-for-pound throne in the world, it is looking like Mayweather's opponents going forward will generate little excitement. The most common names, Amir Khan and Danny Garcia are considered lesser challenges than Alvarez was.

The biggest name he could fight, Adrien Broner, is far from ready to take him on and has vowed never to fight his "big brother." Enter 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins, now going by the moniker "The Alien" due to his superhuman conditioning at an advanced age, is calling out "Money."

"I want to fight anybody that's the best," Hopkins said. "Everybody wants to fight Floyd Mayweather, but I want to fight him for other reasons. Some want to fight him to see if they can compete and some want to fight him thinking they can win. But, its not whether or not I want to fight him, but its who's he gonna fight that people will pay to see? You gotta understand, I'm a promoter so I'm trying to help a situation to sell something for people who ain't buying."

Hopkins fights at light heavyweight, or 175 lbs., so a fight with Mayweather is highly unlikely. Hopkins is willing to make a big concession though, one that will also require Floyd to give up an advantage. Hopkins wants to meet the world's best pound-for-pound fighter at 160 lbs.

"I'm asking Floyd Mayweather (to) jump up two weight classes. (To Floyd) You're great. You're undefeated. Nobody from the media is holding him to the fire," Hopkins said. "Only thing they are saying is, 'Why are you letting this fighter come down to your weight?' Canelo, came down to 150. Let him come up two weight classes. When you're that good, weight doesn't matter."
