Canelo Alvarez Next Fight: Miguel Cotto Offered Eight Figure Deal, Austin Trout Says Canelo Ducking Him [VIDEO]

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's team has said they plan on trotting the Mexican superstar into the ring three times in 2014, likely to rehabilitate his image after being outclassed by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.

They are trying to kick off this trifecta of fights with a bang, by offering resurgent star Miguel Cotto more than $10 million to fight in March. Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer spoke to ESPN.com about trying to land Cotto.

"I met with Miguel and his team, and we had a very good meeting and I made him an offer in the eight figures, well over $10 million, to fight Canelo in March," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "We had a really nice meeting and talked about a bunch of different things. We also talked about the fighters that our companies promote together."

While Cotto mulls his options, which include Alvarez and middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, Team Alvarez is likely piecing together the entire year's slate of fights. One of the names that is likely to come up is that of Austin "No Doubt" Trout, who gave Alvarez hell in April and already owns a win against Cotto.

Trout is set to face off with Erislandy Lara on December 7th, and rumors have swirled the winner will receive an opportunity to face Alvarez. Trout, however, is skeptical of those reports and believes Canelo will duck him and his awkward fighting style.

"That's what they're saying [about fighting the winner of Trout-Lara]. I know that they may be trying to save face, because I know that they don't want to fight Lara," Trout told RingTV. "Now I aso know that they don't want to fight me again. But at least that's what they're talking about, and I'm hoping that they keep their word...did I lose? [to Canelo] Definitely not. I don't see how he won that fight."
