Floyd Mayweather, Jr. does not exactly have a lot of Filipino fans because of his rivalry with Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Although Pacquiao and Mayweather have not met in the ring, their rivalry stems from their respective claims to the mythical pound-for-pound best fighter in the world title.
Mayweather is widely considered as pound-for-pound the best in the business, while a few years ago it was Pacquiao's title. But with the Filipino's recent skid and Mayweather's continued unbeaten streak, the American has firmed his claim to the throne.
But despite the fact that Filipinos and Mayweather have no love lost between each other, the unbeaten American boxer offered prayers for the people of the Philippines which was recently battered by the most powerful typhoon to hit the planet this year.
"My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the Philippines," Mayweather stated in his Facebook account as reported by Hustleboss.com.
The report also said that Mayweather posted a link to an article on CNN.com that highlights the damage that has taken place thus far in the city of Tacloban and the province of Samar, two areas in the country which was badly damaged by super typhoon Haiyan.
The report said that recent estimates placed the death toll to over 1,200 people or even more. Official tallies state that 138 people have lost their lives, with 14 people injured and four being counted as missing.
And while Mayweather and Pacquiao may never see each other in the ring again to prove who's the better fighter, the undefeated boxer somehow won more fans with his classy gesture.
