Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum was booed loudly in Philadelphia as 76ers fans expressed their disappointment to the man whom their team traded for last year but didn't play a single second during the Cavs' 94-79 loss at the Wells Fargo Center.
"It's another game for me," Bynum told CSNPhilly.com after the game.
The boos rained down from the rafters to the hard court as Bynum came out of the locker room to join his teammates in the pregame layup line. He was booed loudly when he got up and went to the scorer's table to report to the game in the first quarter. The boos continued when he touched the ball, rebounded the ball and even blocked Sixers forward Lavoy Allen.
"It was kind of funny," Bynum was quoted as saying by the website. "It was funny. I was smiling the entire time. It was funny ... It was funny to me. I don't know what else I can say about it."
Philadelphia fans are expectedly mad at Bynum after the oft-injured center did not play a single game last season, his only year with the 76ers. The team was involved in the blockbuster Dwight Howard deal which had them sending former All-Star Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets. He also had questionable actions like hurting his knees during a bowling game which became the subject of ridicule among NBA fans.
"It is still career-threatening," Bynum was quoted about his knees. "I am a shell of myself on the court right now. I am struggling mentally, but I am trying."
Going into the Sixers game, the Cavs center was averaging 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. He tallied four points, five rebounds, one assist and one block against his former team.
