The WWE Universe may never find out if the chemistry between AJ Lee and Bayley on social media could transfer over to the squared circle.
Bayley made her main roster WWE debut last month at the Battleground event, joining Sasha Banks as her mystery partner against Charlotte and Dana Brooke, but she's likely to stay in NXT before coming up full-time.
Lee, meanwhile, retired from the WWE in March 2015, shortly after the WrestleMania 31 event in the midst of turmoil between the company and her husband, former WWE star-turned UFC fighter CM Punk.
The "Best in the World" walked out on the WWE in January 2014 due to many frustrations, and eventually spilled his guts on a podcast that November.
Punk blasted WWE Dr. Chris Amann and many WWE executives, saying the physician misdiagnosed him on several occasions. Dr. Amann countered with a defamation lawsuit against Punk and Colt Cabana, whose podcast was the platform for the discussion.
Lee remained with the WWE for over a year after her husband quit, but she opted to walk away after the lawsuit came to light amid what had to be an awkward situation for her.
A former WWE Champion, Punk is set to make his debut in the Octagon in UFC on Sept. 10 at UFC 203, while Lee, a three-time Divas Champion, is in the middle of promoting her book, "Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed By Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules."
Though Lee is plenty busy, there is still hope she'll one day return to the WWE, which would be a great decision for many reasons.
One of those reasons includes the fresh matchups she could have with the likes of Bayley, Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Lee already has what seems to be a close relationship with Bayley.
After Lee tweeted about finishing up her book, Bayley contacted her on Twitter:
Once Bayley enjoyed professional success of her own with her main roster debut, Lee made sure to shout her out on Twitter:
Hopefully one day Bayley and Lee can mix it up in the squared circle should the former Divas Champion ever make her way back to the WWE.
