Kris Benson News Update: Anna Benson Pleads Guilty To Aggravated Assault Charges On Former Pitcher [VIDEO]

Anna Benson, the wife of former major league pitcher Kris Benson, has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges against her ex and sentenced to 15 years probation, according to USA Today.

Benson, 37, was also convicted of weapons charges stemming from the July 7 incident where investigators say she went to her ex's suburban Atlanta home armed with a revolver and demanded $30,000 from him.

Atlanta District Attorney Kim Isaza also told the court Anna Benson was wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying a metal baton when she arrived at the retired hurler's home. During earlier court proceedings, prosecutors described her as a "menace to society" and noted she has a history of violence.

Anna Benson was also once featured on the VH-1 show "Baseball Wives," while Kris Benson pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks over the course of his 11-year career.

During an earlier court appearance, state officials told the court Benson was implicated in a 1996 murder in Tennessee where she later jumped bail with her boyfriend and had to be tracked down in Oregon.

Charges against Benson in that case were eventually dropped, though her boyfriend was ultimately convicted. In allowing her to escape jail time on Wednesday, the judge also ordered her to complete inpatient psychiatric treatment and follow-up care.
