San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree has been cleared to return to practice, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Less than six months after suffering a completely torn ACL that threatened to end his season before it started, Crabtree plans to take the practice field with his teammates this week and is hopeful he might be able to actually play in a game by mid-November.
Crabtree became the first 49ers wideout since 2003 to mass more than 1,000 receiving yards last year when he posted career highs in receptions (85) and touchdowns (nine). By league rules, Crabtree can be added to the team's 53-man roster anytime before Nov. 26 to be eligible for the remainder of the season.
Crabtree and Colin Kaepernick instantly clicked, with the receiver posting five 100-yard games, one more than he managed overall in his first 151 career games, over the quarterback's first 10 starts. According to The Chronicle, Kaepernick also had a 123.9 passer rating when targeting Crabtree, throwing eight touchdowns and no interceptions.
Though 6-2, the 49ers have reached the season's midpoint with the league's lowest-ranked passing game. The team also welcomed receiver Mario Manningham back from injury earlier this week.
