Johnny Manziel Contract Rumors: Former Browns OC Supports Ex-QB's Locker Room Behavior [VIDEO]

At least there's a limit to Johnny Manziel's partying.

The former Browns quarterback has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons in recent months, seemingly drinking his way across the country, while rumors of drug use have also popped up.

Manziel is unemployed after getting cut from the Browns back in March, but at least one of his former leaders has his back.

Former Browns offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who now serves in the same capacity for the Falcons, said Manziel was nothing but professional during his time working under him.

"I was with Johnny for eight months, and Johnny is a very good guy," Shanahan recently told ESPN.com. "Johnny worked as hard for me as anybody. Everything I asked him to do, he did. He was very humble. He did not think he had all the answers. He knew he had to work."

Manziel and Shanahan worked together in 2014, but the offensive coordinator was gone before things truly unraveled for the former Heisman Trophy winner last season.

There were reports that Manziel showed up to practice drunk at least once for the Browns, which reportedly was the last straw for his tenure there. The quarterback, who was selected No. 22 by the Browns in 2014, had a lot of pressure on him, which could be attributed to his struggles, according to Shanahan.

"Unfortunately, [Manziel] had a lot of things going on inside of that building," Shanahan said. "You could tell, for obvious reasons, that he struggled with it."

Though they no longer work together, Shanahan added that he's hoping the 23-year-old will make a return to the NFL and -- more importantly -- get his life together.

"I am pulling for him because I do know he's a good kid," Shanahan said. "I know he's got a good heart. I know he can be a good football player. I don't know what's going on now, but you see all the stuff. I do care about Johnny as a person, and I really hope that he can get his stuff together."

The "stuff' Shanahan alluded to is quite a lot.

Manziel has struggled to stay away from the party scene and was also recently indicted by a Dallas jury for an alleged physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, model Colleen Crowley.

He was also recently sued for allegedly causing $32,000 worth of damage to a home he and his party pals rented for a two-day alcohol and drug-fueled party in Los Angeles.

The good kid Shanahan spoke about may still be in there somewhere, but it'll take a lot of work for Manziel to straighten his life out and get back in the NFL.
