Bill Goldberg WWE Return Rumors 2016: Former Champ Still Mulling A Potential WWE Comeback [VIDEO]

Bill Goldberg admitted he isn't just doing WWE 2K17 for a potential return to the squared circle, but he isn't ruling it out, either.

The former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion hasn't appeared in the squared circle of the WWE since 2004 when he defeated Brock Lesnar in one of the worst bouts to date at WrestleMania XX in 2004.

Now that Goldberg is back under the WWE banner for the video game, there has been a lot of speculation that he'll return to the fold. The formerly 173-0 wrestler said he hasn't ruled anything out as far as a return goes, even if that wasn't the sole reason for him jumping on board with WWE 2K17.

"I know this is a very big step for me in that I've been away [from WWE] for a long period of time and I never really ever saw myself being involved with them again, but along came my wonderful son and [it] opened up the possibility of doing something with the WWE again and I'm grateful to be in this situation." Goldberg ">told Romain Mahut in a video (via WrestlingInc). "For me, my involvement in this video game is a huge honor. If it leads to something else, that's not why I got into it, so be it, and I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it. But that's not why I got involved in this by any stretch of the imagination. And like I said, you never say never."

With Brock Lesnar back in the WWE fold, they could always run a rematch to give the two legendary combatants a chance at redemption. There are also other Superstars he could take on such as John Cena or Roman Reigns in high-profile bouts.

There were rumors that Goldberg was on the verge of working out a deal on a comeback when he spoke with Triple H back in 2014 around WrestleMania XXX. The conversations fell short and Goldberg stated that was the only time he and "The Game" have talked about a possible comeback within the next decade.

"That's a very big issue that I'll have to deal with in that I'm greatly appreciative of anybody and everybody that would want me to return to the ring. But, at the end of the day, it's not just my decision." Goldberg said., "The reality is you're hearing this straight from my mouth. I spoke to Hunter one time, I think, in the last 12 years. Never been in negotiations. Just a conversation here and there, but it never went to the next level. I think both of us were on the same page with that."

Goldberg, however, did say he's open to a one-off appearance, which the WWE could put on at SummerSlam or WrestleMania in the coming years.
