This Sunday, the WWE presents Extreme Rules, and while the card looks good on paper, some notable talents are missing.
The show will emanate from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and feature eight matches, but some of the premiere Superstars in the company won't be present.
Here are the biggest snubs from WWE Extreme Rules as of the announced card on Friday:
5) Zack Ryder
Just over a month ago, Ryder won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in shocking fashion during the Ladder Match at WrestleMania 32. He lost the title the next night on "RAW" to The Miz and then was tossed aside altogether. With the event taking place in New Jersey, not wildly far from the Long Island native's stomping grounds, he would have made a great addition to the card. The Miz will defend his gold against Kevin Owens, Cesaro and Sami Zayn, while Ryder will sit this one out.
4) Paige
The Norwich, England native may have just returned, but that doesn't mean the WWE couldn't squeeze her onto this card someplace. The two-time Divas Champion has a tremendous following amongst the WWE Universe and is one of the best ladies in the division. Hopefully the WWE will find some permanent use for her soon.
3) Becky Lynch
The "Lass Kicker" has been shortchanged from a booking standpoint since her call-up to the main roster. She stole the show with Charlotte and Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 32, but was booked to absorb the submission at the hands of the reigning champion. She then was placed in a feud with the since-injured Emma (back) and Dana Brooke, where she has been booked to look weak. Still, it seemed her feud with Brooke would lead to a match at Extreme Rules, but that isn't the case.
2) Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio
We'll lump these two together since they are cast-offs of the League of Nations. While Bad News Barrett was let-go and Rusev goes after the United States Championship in a bout with Kalisto on Sunday, The "Celtic Warrior" and "Essence of Excellence" remain lost in the shuffle and off the card. Del Rio is rumored to be dating Paige, so at least he has that going for him.
1) Sasha Banks
"The Boss" is by far the biggest snub on this card. Banks put women's wrestling on the map at NXT and had one of the best matches at WrestleMania with Lynch and Charlotte, and yet, she's barely been used on television lately. Either there's an injury that we don't know about or the WWE is really cooling her down for her rumored big run to SummerSlam. Either way, the "We Want Sasha" chants are sure to continue, even if the WWE doesn't deliver her on Sunday. The only women's match booked thus far is Charlotte vs. Natalya in a Submission Match.
Extreme Rules airs this Sunday night and here are our complete predictions.
