Tonight at 9:00 p.m. two Western Conference teams expected to be battling one another for seeding in the bottom half of the playoff race, the Portland Trailblazers (0-1) and Denver Nuggets (0-1) will face off in the thin air of Denver at the Pepsi Center. The game can be live streamed here; Blazers fans can listen to the action on 1190 KEX Portland, while Nuggets fans can 93.7 Mile High Sports Radio.
Tonight's matchup pits two lighting-fast point guards against one another in a matchup that promises offense. Ty Lawson of the Nuggets and Damian Lillard of Portland. Lawson scored 20 points and dished out eight assists against the Sacramento Kings in the opener, but couldn't bring them a win.
Execution of small details. We have such a small margin of error, we have to do all the little things," Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw said. "We should win that game, but 19 turnovers for 21 points on top of those small details that we didn't take care of is not going to get it done for us."
While Denver's loss to Sacramento was surprising, Portland dropping a 104-91 to Phoenix was shocking. "It wasn't a help that we got off to a slow offensive start," said Lillard, the reigning Rookie of the Year. "We dug a hole and then got back into the game but they turned it up on us."
He wasn't allowing the loss to Phoenix get him down, however. "It's one game, we have to take the good and the bad," Lillard said. "We did some things well, but obviously we've got some things we need to go back and fix. The good thing is we have another game Friday."
One of the juicy storylines going into this matchup is J.J. Hickson's first game agains his ex-mates in Portland.
"I'm excited to play my previous team. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't," Hickson said. "But I'm not going to go out and do anything that I don't (normally) do. I'm going to play my game and try to get a win."
