Richard Sherman, Darrelle Revis Beef: Dueling Cornerbacks Continue War Of Words? [VIDEO]

This offseason Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was busy mouthing off to anyone who would listen about his status among the league's NFL cornerbacks. He has blasted several people in the league and in the media, but his shots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis were most heavily scrutinized.

It all began when Revis tired of Sherman's "best corner in the NFL" talk and fired a shot on Twitter at the mouthy defensive back. "I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like girl. This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety @rsherman_25," Revis tweeted.

Sherman didn't take the barb lightly, and responded with some factual evidence of his superiority. "Got off my flight to this hilarious convo. So I have 8 picks 3 ff and a sack. My season stats looking like Revis career stats." Sherman fired off again, claiming Revis actually has to aspire to his lofty standards now, tweeting "one season u will get 8 picks.... But it won't happen anytime soon... I did it in my 2nd season... So u have something to chase."

Many defended Revis' lower stat totals, claiming his opportunities for interceptions are limited because quarterbacks don't dare throw his way. Sherman refuted that defense tweeting, "For the QB not throwing his way argument. In his 2nd year they were throwing his way. I still doubled his picks."

As the Seahawks and Bucs gear up for a showdown on Sunday, both men have tempered their anger and are playing the polite card. When asked if he's still upset with Sherman, Revis took the high road.

"I haven't really studied film on him to really make an assumption on him being the top guy," Revis said. "He can play. I love his game. He makes plays. I like how he presses. He's a great corner in this league."

Sherman too refused to rile up the shutdown corner in Tampa Bay, saying only that he wasn't being used properly in the Bucs' scheme. He stood by his original remarks though, and said he does not want to take them back.

"No I don't have any regrets about anything. He's a good player and he's having a good year," Sherman said. "I don't think he's very happy with the way they're using him in the scheme making him play a lot of Cover 2 and making him play off. I think he's much, much better when he's man-to-man. I think any corner that has any pride about himself wants to be in man-to-man situations and want to do his job. Can't help how you're being used."
