Tiger Woods Masters Update: Announcement Could Come Today [VIDEO]

The Tiger Woods wait could be over as soon as today.

The former No. 1 golfer in the world has not yet withdrawn from The Masters, and with the year's first major less than a week away, the anticipation is at a peak whether Woods will miraculously announce that he will play in the event.

Woods may address his plans sometime this afternoon, according to Golf Digest.

"Given his past -- Woods and his team are notorious for Friday afternoon news dumps -- we should hear from Tiger sometime (today)," Golf Digest reported. Of course, (today) is April Fools' Day. You've been warned."

Remote Possibility Exists Tiger Woods Plays In Masters

Woods has not competed since the Wyndham Championship in August, where he was tied for the lead after two rounds before faltering back to 10th.

He had a second microfracture surgery on his back following the event, and then another procedure, which has sidelined him since.

CBS Golf broadcaster Jim Nantz said in a conference call that he's not ruling out a Woods appearance at the Masters, according to a tweet posted on Golf Digest.

Some Vegas bookmakers, however, are removing Woods from its list of player odds to win the event, Golf Digest added.

"A few gaming houses, most notably, The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook, still have Woods as an option at 80/1," the website reported. "But the notion that sports books -- not an altruistic crowd, those sports books -- see it as unfair to keep Woods available illustrates the sharps' outlook on the Masters."

Woods has vowed that he will not return prematurely this time around, saying that he has done so in the past.

But Tiger has to be close to full strength to have refrained from announcing he wouldn't play in The Masters to this point.
