The push to the Stanley Cup playoffs continues when the Flyers roll into the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday for a battle with the Islanders.
Philadelphia has won two of its last three games and seven of 10, but comes in on the heels of a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. New York, meanwhile, dropped its last three contests -- all on the road -- including a 3-0 shutout at the hands of Dallas last time out on Saturday.
The Islanders (85 points) enter Monday holding the top wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and are only three points behind the third-place Rangers (88) and second-place Penguins (88) in the Metropolitan Division race. The Red Wings (83) hold the second wild card spot, while the Flyers (80) are right behind them in the tight standings.
New York has taken two of its three meetings against Philadelphia this season, but the Flyers won the last head-to-head matchup, 4-0, on Jan. 9.
Claude Giroux has paced the Flyers with 59 points and 41 assists this season, while Wayne Simmonds is first on the team with 25 goals. For the Islanders, John Tavares has paved the way with 26 tallies and 56 points, while Kyle Okposo has a club-best 36 helpers.
The projected goaltending matchup will see Steve Mason in the blue paint for Philadelphia and Thomas Greiss between the pipes for the Islanders.
Mason is 17-16-8 with a 2.62 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. Greiss, meanwhile, is 19-9-4 with a 2.26 GAA and a .928 save percentage.
