WWE Hell in a Cell 2013 Results: Randy Orton New WWE Champion, Shawn Michaels Turns Heel, John Cena Wins Championship In Return

One of the most dangerous nights of the year in sports entertainment took place Sunday night when WWE Hell in a Cell was broadcast live from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, F.L. The night ended with a shocking conclusion as Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton competed over the vacant WWE Championship in front of a raucous crowd.

In the main event of the evening, special guest referee Shawn Michaels was taken out after Bryan reversed an RKO and accidentally shoved Orton into him. Bryan then had the match won when he hit a flying knee onto Orton, but with no referee there was no one there to count the fall. Triple H then entered the ring and shoved Bryan to the mat. When Michaels came back around, he delivered a devastating Sweet Chin Music to Bryan, leading to Orton covering him for the controversial pin to become the new WWE Champion.

In addition to that startling ending, John Cena made his triumphant return to action after surgery on his arm and competed in his first match since SummerSlam when he locked horns with Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship. The finish saw Cena become the new champion when he hit the Attitude Adjuster on Del Rio following a series of reversals.

The other Hell in a Cell match saw CM Punk battle Ryback and Paul Heyman. Punk got the win over Ryback after he hit a flying elbow drop from the top-rope onto Ryback through a table. Heyman wasn't involved in the match as he just stayed on top of the cell and looked down. After he won, Punk climbed to the top of the cell with a kendo stick and whaled away on Heyman with it before hitting the GTS on top of the cell on his former manager.

In triple threat tag team action for the Tag Team Titles, Goldust and Cody Rhodes defended their belts against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and The Usos. The Rhodes brothers got the win when Cody hit the cross Rhodes on Reigns and pinned him for the victory. Dean Ambrose represented The Shield in singles action, and defended his United States Championship against Big E Langston. Ambrose lost by countout after Langston speared him off of the apron and he couldn't get back in to beat the referee's 10-count.

The Divas Championship was defended and A.J. Lee picked up a victory over Brie Bella in a successful defense that saw the finish come when Brie accidentally knocked Nikki Bella off of the apron and A.J. hit the Black Widow for the pin on a distracted Brie. In other action, Los Matadores defeated Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro after hitting a double team move on Swagger to set up the pinfall victory. After the match, El Torito celebrated with Los Matadores and took out Cesaro, Swagger and their manager Zeb Colter.

In mixed tag team action, Fandango and Summer Rae defeated The Great Khali and Natalya after Rae reversed Natalya's sharpshooter attempt into a roll up. Elsewhere on the card, the Miz came out to say that he wasn't cleared to wrestle after the beat down at the hands of the Wyatt family on SmackDown, but said he was ready for a brawl instead. He called out the Bray Wyatt, and he sent Erick Rowan and Luke Harper down to take control of the Miz and they began to beat him down. Kane then made his return and cleared the ring of Rowan and Harper before chokeslamming Miz and leaving.

In the pre-show, Damien Sandow defeated Kofi Kingston with the full nelson slam.

In the aftermath of Hell in a Cell, the WWE Championship landscape is once again skewed as Shawn Michaels screwed Daniel Bryan and allowed Orton to get the controversial victory, while John Cena made a triumphant return and CM Punk got his revenge.
