At 1:00 p.m. one of the fiercest rivalries in the NFL will resume in Philadelphia, when the fast-paced Eagles (3-4) take on the New York Giants (1-6) in an NFC East clash that has far less juice than expected when the season began. Philadelphia has been very up-and-down this year, but had an offensive power outage last week against the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Michael Vick is back in the saddle this week, and hopes to return Philly to it's high-scoring self.
Vick may not be 100 percent after injuring his hamstring against these Giants two weeks ago, but he's planning to go full throttle. "I've pretty much set my mind to play the way I want to play," he said. "I'm giving it everything I got. No holding back. I don't want to play that way."
The Eagles are trying to snap a nine-game home losing streak. "I don't think we talk about it," coach Chip Kelly said. "Obviously, we want to give our fans what they deserve and we've had an unbelievable home crowd in the games that we've been home this year. I just got in this year."
The G-Men topped the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football last week, and are hoping to build on the momentum going forward. "Our preparation has been good every week, we just have to keep doing it," quarterback Eli Manning said. "If we do the right things, it will come around. You will start to play the way that we know you can."
A return to star-caliber form for wide receiver Hakeem Nicks would help Manning enormously. "I'm sure Hakeem would be the first one to tell you that there were a couple of those balls he should have caught," coach Tom Coughlin said. Nicks has been the center of numerous trade rumors lately, and is playing for his next contract.
