With the dead weight off her shoulders -- and by dead weight we mean Drake -- Serena Williams is soaring to new heights.
Well, they’re the same heights as usual. She just feels better about it.
Serena Williams Put Her Life In Danger Over A Cell Phone
Williams is yet to drop a set at the first grand slam of the season. She’ll face Angelique Kerber in the Australian Open final on Saturday.
“I would say this is probably the best slam I’ve played in a year, and I’ve won a lot in a year,” Williams said, per The Guardian. “I know my practices are better. Hopefully I’m playing better, so I definitely can play more consistent and more mentally stable, so to say.
“I haven’t won this one. But even if I don’t win, I really can take away that I’ve been really consistent, and I want to continue that.”
Meet Serena Williams’ New Boyfriend
As you’ll notice, the difference between Williams this year and last year isn’t her supreme confidence, it’s a lack of this:
A pariah in the sports world, Drake has brought a fair amount of unhappiness to Kentucky basketball, Raptors and Heat fans.
Williams was the latest victim after a U.S. Open loss in 2015.
Back on the winning track, however, Williams will look meet history. With a win over Kerber, she’ll tie Steffi Graf -- another German ironically enough -- for the most Grand Slam titles ever (22).
