NFL News: Patriots' LB Darius Fleming Saves Woman From Death [VIDEO]

Darius Fleming claims to have saved a life, though all that needed the proper verification before it finally held up.

The Patriots reserve linebacker went from hero to zero and then hero again, mainly due to some mix-up on police reports concerning a three-car crash that happened prior to Saturday's playoff game against the Chiefs.

Fleming, who had two tackles in the 27-20 divisional round win, drew a crowd when word of his heroic act cropped up over at the Facebook page of his former school, St. Rita Cascia High School.

Fleming risked his life and saved the life of a woman from a burning vehicle when he kicked the window to help the female escape, according to the post.

Fleming narrated what happened, explaining why he ended up with a leg that required 22 stitches.

"I tried to open the doors and it wouldn't work. So then I was just like, 'I have to get her out of here. I don't know if this lady can breathe or what," says Flemming via ESPN. “I started banging on the window. It wouldn't break. So then I started to kick in the window and eventually it broke."

USA Today went through the trouble of verifying the report and get more details with several police stations and towing companies. The only problem is that no company had records proving the story really took place, per TMZ.

Curiously, reports suddenly surfaced, especially when the actual woman pulled from the car appeared to shed light on what really happened. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, claims that she was indeed unable to get out of her vehicle and that a male who she believed to be a “Patriot” came to her aid.

Fleming had to kick the window three times to break it open and then pull out the woman to safety. When he did, Fleming didn’t stick around since he was bleeding.

The fourth-year player went back to the stadium to bandage his bleeding leg before eventually going to a hospital to have x-rays and have his leg stitched up.

The only inconsistency seems to be the part of the car being on fire though all that may have been an assumption because of all the smoke inside when Fleming saw the scene.
