The Oklahoma City Thunder have another off-the-court incident to deal with, this time concerning starting center Kendrick Perkins. Perkins was charged with misdemeanor assault stemming from a parking lot incident in which he's accused of punching a woman and her brother. Perkins' cousin Quincy Alpough is facing the same charges

According to reports, a woman named Miketta Cotton and her brother were backing out of a parking space at the nightclub Nox in Houston, when they made contact with another vehicle. Cotton claims she exited her car to speak with the male driver, when a female got out of the other car and began arguing with her.

Cotton said the woman calmed down, but Alpough then exited the car yelling "That's my cousin!" and pushed her. The altercation escalated, with another woman involved claiming Alpough elbowed her in the throat rendering her unconscious. The claims accuse Perkins of punching Cotton's brother Ja'Keenan Cotton in the head with a closed fist, and further alleges a group of people kicked the Cottons repeatedly while on the ground.

In 2011, Perkins was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication, so this isn't his first run-in with the law. Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti released a statement saying, "We were made aware of the allegations. It is something we take seriously and are gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time."

This has been a tough offseason for the Thunder. They lost sharp-shooting bench guard Kevin Martin to free agency, and star point guard Russell Westbrook will miss a chunk of the season after a loose stitch in his surgically repaired knee necessitated a second procedure.

The team also released reserve forward DeAndre Liggins this offseason, after he became embroiled in an ugly domestic violence incident. He is accused of attacking his girlfriend in front of the couple's two-year-old son, and dropping an Xbox video game console on her head.

According to USA Today, Liggins is facing felony charges in the assault.
