Tonight at Rogers Arena in Vancouver at 10:00 p.m., two of the hottest teams in the NHL, the San Jose Sharks (3-0-0, 6 points) and Vancouver Canucks (3-0-1, 6 points) will face off in a matchup that can be live streamed here. Sharks fans can catch the radio broadcast on KFOX 98.5, while Canucks fans can do the same on Team 1040 AM.
All eyes will be on Sharks center Thomas Hertl, who has been lighting up his opponents on a nightly basis. His most recent victim, the New York Rangers, watched helplessly as Hertl ravaged them for four goals, bringing his three-game total to six. The 19-year-old rookie has an assist to go with those goals, bringing his point total to seven.
"This is a dream," Hertl said. "This is crazy. I've never scored more than two in a game, maybe."
The young, budding star has impressed center and captain Joe Thornton. "He likes to score goals, and you can see that by his celebrations," Thornton said. "He loves to put pucks in the back of the net, and as his teammates it's fun to watch him put pucks in the back of the net. It's been fun to watch in the first three games."
The Canucks are hot too, but have achieved their wins in a different way. Vancouver's been giving their opponents head starts before winning in comeback fashion.
"Early on in the season, it's good to happen that way. We'll be in these situations and hopefully we can fall back on some of the positive things that are going on," coach John Tortorella said. "There was no panic on our bench. We just started playing a little bit quicker and a little bit simpler."
Left-winger Daniel Sedin mirrored his coach's mentality. "We still have stuff to work on, it's obvious, but we'll get there," Sedin said.
