Boxing News 2015: Juan Manuel Marquez Sees Canelo Alvarez Outpointing Gennady Golovkin [VIDEO]

A Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin bout is still up in the air, but if it does happen, Juan Manuel Marquez believes that Alvarez has a chance to pull off a win over the rampaging Kazakh knockout artist.

Prior to the Alvarez vs. Cotto bout, Marquez did support his countryman, but believed Cotto would be a hard opponent to come by per Boxingscene.com. But singling out Alvarez’ performance, he now has a different outlook for his fellow Mexican.

Many feel that Golovkin would be too much for Alvarez to handle and the record of Triple G practically speaks for itself. He has been knocking out opponents like crazy and is a natural middleweight.

Alvarez on the other hand is comfortable fighting at 155 lbs. and such is the reason why he is batting for that highly controversial “catchweight clause”.

But it seems that Marquez that Alvarez doesn’t need to make such a stipulation according to Fox Deportes.

"From what I saw of Canelo Alvarez, he is capable of giving Golovkin a great fight, a fight where [Canelo] could end up winning on points," says the Hall of Famer.

The word out right now is that both Alvarez and Golovkin will be allowed to face voluntary opponents. Both camps are negotiating and the WBC had softened its stance a bit as far as making the fight happen.

If negotiations turn out ripe, Alvarez and Golovkin could be getting it on by the middle of 2016, though the catchweight issue is still up for debate.

There is a possibility that Alvarez could be forced to vacate the title if he is forced to fight at 160 lbs. Alvarez feels that he is about two years away from being ready of fightig at that level, though all that could change next year.
