Lamar Odom tells TMZ he is convinced he can beat his drug addiction without going to rehab and insist he's already been sober for five days now.
The website adds friends of the wayward NBA veteran insist he believes in the powers of "self-healing" and is convinced his willpower is great enough to aide him in overcoming his demons. TMZ adds that Odom said he's done it before and is adamant he can do it again.
Sources also tell TMZ Odom has started the process of removing certain "friends" from within his circle, all in an effort to make certain he doesn't suffer yet another relapse. Odom has been dogged this summer by allegations of infidelity and rumors "hardcore" drug use TMZ has previously reported once that once had him spending upwards of $800 on crack and other drugs.
Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband was also recently arrested for a DUI that could mean jail time. TMZ also reports that while Odom wants to save his marriage to Kardashian, his primary motivation for now reaching sobriety appears to be preserving his NBA career.
After playing last season with the L.A. Clippers, Odom is now a free agent seemingly without many options as NBA training camps kicked off over the last several days.
