The Cincinnati Bengals should be riding high after a miracle comeback at home against the Green Bay Packers pushed their record to 2-1, but instead they are cleaning up the latest mess made by troubled defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones.

At about 2:30 a.m. last night Jones was arrested for making offensive comments to a police officer during a traffic stop. The car he was in was pulled over for speeding at 60 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. The driver of the vehicle was cited for drunken driving, while Jones received a citation for disorderly conduct. Both parties were released and have hearings on Friday.

A team spokesman said the organization will not comment until the matters are resolved. "As with most situations of this nature, it would be inappropriate for the team to comment until the matter is resolved through normal legal channels."

Prior to his arrest, Jones was being praised by the coaching staff for his play in the Packers game despite battling an injury. "He was sore last week with the abdomen, but he knew it was a big football game, a big opportunity for him and our football team, and he had to play big," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "He did a good job."

Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer sounded a similar tune, saying, "That may be his best game he's played since he's been here. He's played some good games, but that may have been his best one."

His legal woes have dogged him for years; he was suspended for the entire 2007 season and in 2009 was out of football because no team was willing to take a risk on him. In 2007 he was involved in a strip club shooting that resulted in a club manager being paralyzed from the waist down. Last year Jones was forced to shell out $11 million to two employees injured in the shooting.

In 2011 Jones was arrested for disorderly conduct, and this past June was accused of hitting a woman in a nightclub. In the latter incident Jones has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
