NFL Trades: The Curious Case Of Browns OT Joe Thomas [VIDEO]

The NFL trade deadline has lapsed and when the smoke cleared, Joe Thomas still remains a Cleveland Brown.

Thomas was one of the key names in the middle of negotiations between the Browns and the Denver Broncos but both sides failed to come to terms to consummate a deal that was reportedly tied up on draft picks.

According to initial reports, the Broncos had originally offered a 2017 first-round draft pick and a 2016 second-round draft pick in exchange for the Browns’ offensive tackle together with a 2016 third-round draft pick.

Apparently not sold to the deal, the Browns had wanted an additional future draft pick (a 2016 fifth-round selection) to be added to the mix but it seemed that the Broncos were not too keen on the trade-off.

With the NFL trade deadline now lapsing, this will mean that Thomas will play out the rest of the season for the Browns.

As far as Thomas is concerned, he doesn’t mind being in the middle of trade talks but did mention that he preferred to start and end his career in Cleveland.

The Browns are currently toting a 2-6 record but Thomas is not fazed by it. In fact, he wants to help out if given the opportunity to help the ballclub turn things around.

On the part of the Browns’ management, general manager Ray Farmer made it clear that the team was not shopping any of its players and most of the trade talks stemmed from teams interested in some players on their end, which in this case was the 30-year-old Thomas.

Aside from the Broncos, another team that was linked to a possible trade involving Thomas were the streaking New England Patriots though. Unfortunately the Pats didn’t have the necessary resources to make an attractive pitch that could draw the interest of the Browns.
