Connor McDavid Oilers Rumors: Rap Anthem Touts Rookie's NHL Breakout [VIDEO]

Connor McDavid is already living the dream. He plays in the NHL, just won Rookie of the Month for October and oh yeah, he even had a sick rap anthem written for him.

McDavid, 18, was selected first overall by the Oilers at this year's NHL Draft, and he drew comparisons to Sidney Crosby before ever lacing his skates in the NHL. Canadian rapper Raspy Balboa has taken notice and dropped "Connor McDavid (Welcome to the NHL)," a rap anthem that celebrates the phenom's success thus far in his NHL career.

Early on in a year with plenty of outstanding rookies, including Jack Eichel of the Sabres, McDavid has lived up to the hype and was recognized by the NHL as its Rookie of the Month for October -- his first month in the NHL. The former Erie Otters standout led all NHL first-year players with five goals and 12 points throughout the first month of the season, while his seven assists ranked second.

The young Edmonton team has only earned eight points through its first 12 contests, placing it in fifth place in the Pacific Division, but McDavid has given the club some reason for optimism. His skills weren't lost on Balboa, who spit some amazing verses to applaud the rookie's great start.

Take a listen for yourself and enjoy the song, particularly the chorus.

Who give me dat pass?/Connor McDavid!

Who light up the net?/Connor McDavid!

Who skate like a champ?/Connor McDavid!

Through his first 12 games of his rookie season, Crosby had two goals, 13 assists and 15 points. Solid numbers, but nothing worthy of a sick rap beat.
