3 Professional Athletes Who Went To Prison For Murder

We all have that one professional athlete we look up to, idolize or simply just someone who inspires us to do better in life; someone who motivates us to be like them someday.

This is NOT what this article is about. I am here to talk about three of the most notorious professional athletes who were charged of murder.

Oscar Pistorius Update: Dead Girlfriend's Mother No Longer Wants Him In Jail

1. Mark 'Gator' Rogowski

He is a professional skateboard player who started his career when he was just 14 years old. His career must I say, for the lack of a better word, short-lived. He was already earning over $100,000 while he was still 17. It all came crumbling down in 1990 when he killed the best friend of his ex-girlfriend. He was sentenced to 31 years in prison and is currently in Men's Colony in California. He was denied for parole once in 2011 and will be available for parole in 2018.

2. Robert Rozier

Rozier played for the Cardinals back in 1979 as a defensive player in the NFL. He then joined a cult and was charged of killing seven innocent people. He got out of prison after 10 years but is now back serving a 25-to- life-year sentence because of the "three strikes" law.

3. Rae Carruth

He was part of the Panthers and earned $40,000 per game. Now he is earning 40 cents a day working as a janitor for Nash Correctional Institution. He was charged for hiring two men to kill his 6-months pregnant girlfriend Cherica Adams who was shot in her car four times. She did not survive but her son barely survived after being born prematurely and by emergency. Carruth was sentenced to 24 years in prison and will be released in 2018.
