Seattle Seahawks Rumors: In-Fighting Among Legion Of Boom Has NFC Champions Reeling [VIDEO]

Not even the 12th Man could save the Seahawks from a truly shocking defeat at the hands of the unbeaten Panthers on Sunday. The Seahawks, famously dominant at home, lost for the first time in their own building, and blew a lead for the second time in three weeks.

Even worse, the crucial breakdown happened in their secondary, the supposed strength of their vaunted defense. Their two leaders, safety Earl Thomas and cornerback Richard Sherman had a miscommunication and allowed Panthers TE Greg Olsen to score the game-winning touchdown on them, leaving the two DBs to have an angry conversation about what just happened. After the game, Thomas was at a loss for words.

“I don’t know, bro,’’ Thomas said. “I want to say a lot of things, but I can’t. I’m at a loss of words. This game is so beautiful, but it’s so ugly.”

Sherman was more eloquent, and descriptive. According to the outspoken corner, the two were not on the same page, and executing two different play calls. “We were playing two different plays at the same time,’’ Sherman said. “Anytime you’re doing that, it’s not going to work out well.”

The loss dropped Seattle to 2-4, and has many wondering if their days as a dominant defense are numbered. The Seahawks players remain defiant.

“We don’t suck,” Thomas said. Defensive lineman Chris Avril believes finding their lost identity is the key.

“We have to get back to who we are, and that’s what we do: Finish games,’’ Avril said. “We take pride in that, and we have to get back to that.”

Sherman, never lacking for confidence, thinks that better times are on the horizon for this defense, which has led Seattle to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.

“Obviously, there were mistakes, a few missed tackles, but everything’s correctable, as always,’’ Sherman said. “I thought we played a good game, overall. We gave ourselves a chance to win.”
