Von Miller Suspension: NFL May Add To 6-Game Ban Due To More Legal Trouble For Denver Broncos Linebacker [VIDEO]

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller wasn't able to play Sunday when Peyton Manning tied an NFL single-game record by connecting on seven touchdown passes en route to the teams season-opening victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens due to a six-game ban handed down from the league, and it seems like his absence from the gridiron could be even longer than expected.

ESPN reports that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell could decide to add more games on Miller's six-game punishment that he's serving for violating the league's substance abuse policy, due to the linebacker once again having trouble with the law. According to CBS4 in Denver, Miller was cited for driving without a license and speeding by police last week, and it could lead to more punishment from the NFL.

According to ESPN, multiple sources believed that Miller was cited for a traffic infraction after he met with NFL Players Association officials about his suspension. Miller is prepared to go into a legal with the Broncos because the team wants to revoke the $1.25 million signing bonus money it gave to Miller before the suspension.

Miller reportedly met with attorneys because he plans on getting the NFLPA to help him keep the money while the Bronco's plan to take it from his game checks when he starts getting paid again in Week 7 when the ban is lifted, if his suspension isn't increased.

CBS4 Denver reported that Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson told his station of Miller's citation, and said he was driving with his father, Von Sr., and was allowed to drive home.

Goodell has stressed a stricter policy for repeat offenders both on and off the field and may come down on Miller to set an example. Miller was arrested last August on a failure to appear in court warrant, according to ESPN, and his latest off-the-field infraction while being suspended may end up leading to Goodell being inclined to further his punishment.

Miller, who has made it to the Pro Bowl at the end of each of his first two seasons and set a franchise record last year with 18.5 sacks, is in Stage 3 of the league's substance abuse program, according to ESPN, and will be drug tested randomly up to 10 months a year for the rest of his career.

If Miller fails a drug test again, it will cause the linebacker to miss a minimum of one calendar year of NFL action.
