Lolo Jones Weight Gain [PHOTO]: Olympic Star Gains 20 Pounds For Bobsled Team, Plans On Adding Another Seven

Lolo Jones, who rose to fame as a United States hurdler in the 2012 Olympics, is aiming to become a two-sport star, participating in both track and field during the summer Olympics, and she hopes the Winter Olympics as an American bobsledder.

Jones is very active on Twitter and Instagram and recently she proved those who accused her of taking up bobsledding as a publicity stunt wrong. Jones has gained an astonishing 20 pounds of muscle as she fully throws herself into the sport.

On Instagram, Jones posted a photo of herself doing pull ups, with her ripped shoulder and back muscles very visible. She captioned her workout pic, "These used to be easier when I weighed 135lbs for Track. Now I weigh 155lbs! 7 lbs more to go. #sochi#winterOlympics."

While bulking up is never a good move on the track, in bobsledding heavy muscle weight can be a huge advantage as it can increase the force in which the bobsled travels downhill.

Prior to being selected to the United States bobsled team, Sports Illustrated caught up with Lolo as she was just beginning to get her feet wet. "I'm just trying to take it all in. It's a new sport for me and there's a ton of room for improvement. ... I'm coming in here trying to learn everything quickly. I'm looking forward to fixing some things and hammering it out," Jones said.

The U.S. coach Todd Hays complimented Jones' work ethic and ability to pick up the sport quickly. "She surprised me every day with how dedicated she is," said Hays. "The one word I keep coming back to is, she's such a competitor. She cannot accept not being good at something. She gets up earlier than everybody else, goes to bed later, constantly trying to get better."
