The Houston Texans will take on the San Diego Chargers tonight at 10:15 p.m. in the second game of a Monday Night Football double header tonight on ESPN. The game can be live streamed here for free; Texans fans can hear the radio broadcast on Bull 100.3 FM., while Chargers backers can listen to the Bolts on Rock 105.3 FM.
The big story for real life football fans, as well as fantasy football owners across the country, will be the workload of star running back Arian Foster. Foster has been a top back in the NFL for several seasons now, a perfect player for Houston's zone blocking offense.
Foster hasn't played this preseason due to lingering calf and back injuries, and rumors have swirled that the Texans will be limiting his workload early in the season to protect his health. The Texans have a very capable backup to Foster in Ben Tate ready to go, so his status bears monitoring.
The Texans will also be hoping to get good production from rookie wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, drafted in the first round to provide help opposite Andre Johnson.
San Diego is once again casting its lot with Philip Rivers, once regarded as one of the elite quarterbacks in the league. In 2012, Rivers put up his lowest passing yardage total (3,606) since 2007, while losing his most dynamic threat at wide receiver, Danario Alexander, to a torn ACL in the preseason.
The running game will hinge on Ryan Mathews again, who will hope to finally avoid the injury bug and hit on his massive potential as both a ballcarrier and receiver out of the backfield.
