Jon Bon Jovi's son, Jesse Bon Jovi is planning on rocking the gridiron. Jesse Bon Jovi has earned a spot on Notre Dame's Fighting Irish football team as a freshman walk-on, Yahoo Sports reports.

Jesse, 18, played at Poly Prep high school and intends on helping the Fighting Irish expand on their recent success. Jesse stands at 5-foot-9 while weighing in at 183 pounds. He will wear the number 34 on his sweater and play at cornerback for the Irish.

"Jesse has earned his spot on the 105[-man roster]," Notre Dame's head coach, Brian Kelly, said in early August per Yahoo Sports. "He's a tough kid. The kids really like him. They respect him. They don't look at him as a rock star's son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team."

Jon Bon Jovi, known for hits such as "It's My Life," "Livin' On A Prayer," and "Wanted Dead or Alive," was in the crowd when Notre Dame picked up a season-opening victory over Temple University by a score of 28-6, rocking a Notre Dame cap. Jesse Bon Jovi didn't see any in-game action.

Notre Dame went undefeated last year, and Yahoo Sports reports that the team is ranked No. 14 in the AP Media Poll. The Fighting Irish lost to the University of Alabama in the national championship game last season.

Yahoo Sports reports that Jesse isn't the only celebrity's son to be appearing for Notre Dame this season as Austin Collinsworth, son of Sunday Night Football announcer Chris Collinsworth, is entering his senior season with the team while Torii Hunter Jr., son of the Detroit Tigers slugger and Corey Robinson, son of NBA Hall of Famer David Robertson are both entering their freshman seasons with the team.

The next step for Notre Dame is a tangle with the University of Michigan on Saturday, but it's unknown if Jesse will see any playing time.
