LeBron James is set to co-produce a sitcom for the cable movie channel Starz called Survivor's Remorse that centers around two friends who "make it big" out of Philadelphia's inner city.
According to CBS Sports, Survivor's Remorse will also chronicle how the two main characters deal with such emotions as guilt and sympathy for all their peers who remain left behind in their hard-knock life community.
The four-time NBA MVP will work on the half-hour show alongside Tom Werner, the same man who produced such classic TV hits as The Cosby Show and Roseanne. Maverick Carter, James' business partner and boyhood pal, will also work on the project, as will actor Mike O'Malley, who will serve as one of the executive producers.
Starz has released a statement announcing the project that reads" "Through a combination of God-given talent and north Philly grit, Cam Calloway and Reggie Vaughn have achieved fame and fortune that neither could have imagined growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Philadelphia. But success comes with its own challenges, and the cousins and confidantes wrestle with the rewards of money, stardom, love and occasionally, the guilt of having made it.
This doesn't mark the first time James has dipped his toe in such distinctive waters. He and several of his associates previously produced two seasons of the LeBrons cartoon show, which was based on the Nike characters he created earlier in his career.
