Adrien Broner Next Fight: Marcos Maidana Bout Moved To December 14, Better Undercard Planned Says Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer [VIDEO]

Is Adrien "The Problem" Broner having negotiation problems in the process of figuring out when he will face power-punching Marcos Maidana? According to BoxingNews24.com, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is moving Broner's fight with Maidana, scheduled for November 9th, to December 14th because of ongoing negotiations.

A secondary reason for the date being pushed back is that Schaefer is trying to put together a quality undercard. Having a second good fight on the card could be key, as this will be Broner's first test as a pay-per-view draw.

Putting Broner vs. Maidana on pay-per-view could be a risky proposition, mostly because Maidana is a relative unknown outside of hardcore followers of the sport. Maidana's biggest win was a 2009 knockout victory of then-budding star Victor Ortiz, who quit in the middle of the fight to avoid punishment.

Since that bout, Maidana has gone 8-2 in his last 10 contests, dropping decisions to Amir Khan and Devon Alexander, but most recently knocking out Josesito Lopez, another fighter who became a star by upsetting Ortiz.

To those who follow boxing closely, Maidana is an entertaining knockout artist, but he only recently signed with manager Al Haymon, so he's toiled in relative anonymity.

Broner, too, has question marks as a legitimate draw. He has garnered significant attention for his brash behavior and loud mouth, but is widely believed to be untested by strenuous competition.

In his most recent fight, Broner defeated respected welterweight Paulie Malignaggi for his WBA welterweight belt, but did so unimpressively. He was unable to back up much of his boasting, which included predictions of bloodying and battering Malignaggi. Instead, the "Magic Man" provided most of the offense, with Broner landing accurate counterpunches.

Malignaggi is known as a light-hitting fighter, which was tailor-made for Broner to walk through and land his shots. For that reason, many do not believe he truly tested himself as a welterweight and it could hurt his credibility as a pay-per-view headliner.

Conversely, Broner may be able to stir up so much controversy between now and December that the vast majority of the boxing public purchases the event just to see Maidana get his swings in.
