The Dallas Cowboys (1-1) are set to square off with the Arizona Cardinals in preseason action tonight at 4:30 p.m., as Dallas is playing in its third preseason game while the Cardinals are in their second. The game can be live streamed here; Cowboys fans can listen to the game on 105.3 The Fan, while Cardinals fans can do the same by turning their radio dials to 620 KTAR AM.
The focus for the Cowboys tonight in their third preseason game will be getting all their major players through the game in one piece. The Dallas offense is loaded with weapons, and figures to rank among the league's best, but health will be paramount.
Two players in particular, running back DeMarco Murray and wide receiver Dez Bryant, will play important roles in Dallas' hunt for a playoff spot in 2013.
In the first two years of his career, Murray has played in 13 and 10 games; while he has been productive in those games America's Team needs a full slate from Murray to hold off the strong challengers in the NFC East.
As for Bryant, he has played through most of his injuries in the first three years of his career, but 2013 is expected to be the season he joins the NFL elite. Last year he flashed that potential, and now he and Tony Romo are expected to take the leap into Troy Aikman-Michael Irvin territory.
As for the Cardinals, tonight will be about the Cardinals' new quarterback Carson Palmer continuing to develop a rapport with Larry Fitzgerald, as he hopes to resuscitate the career of a man once considered the league's best wide receiver.
Defensively, the Cardinals have something of Dez Bryant's equivalent lining up at cornerback in second-year player Patrick Peterson. Their clashes in this game could be epic. Just yesterday, Cardinals general manager Steve Keim heaped a healthy helping of praise on his dynamic defender and return man.
"From an ability standpoint, I've never seen anything like him. He's the closest thing in the league to a Bo Jackson," Keim said.
