News broke yesterday that WWE superstar Darren Young came out as gay, making him the first ever openly gay active wrestler in the sport's history. In a sign of the times, the reaction from his WWE family on Twitter has been overwhelmingly positive.

Notrorious macho man Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, tweeted "Congratulations, @DarrenYoungWWE for living YOUR life, YOUR way. #proud." His wife Stephanie McMahon, the daughter of WWE boss Vince McMahon, followed suit. "Congratulations to @DarrenYoungWWE for being the first openly gay WWE Superstar!"

Others in the WWE community used the opportunity to both congratulate Young for his courage, and also tout the opinion that sexual orientation shouldn't even be a factor. Legendary announcer Jim Ross re-tweeted Stephanie McMahon and added his own two cents: "I second that. #NonIssue."

Jonathan Coachman, a former WWE personality and current member of ESPN's SportsCenter tweeted, "I worked with several gay wrestlers in my 10 yrs at @wwe. Trust me not a big deal in the lockerroom at all. happy for him."

Earlier in the year Coachman also commented in similar fashion on the topic of homosexuality in the wrestling universe after the NBA's Jason Collins became the first openly gay active player in American, male team sports.

"There were several openly gay wrestlers and some of our old school guys as well. Never an issue and not only were we getting naked in front of each other, but we were wrestling each other in the ring and it wasn't an issue," Coachman said.

Perhaps the strongest praise for Young came from the WWE's top dog, WWE Champion John Cena. Cena is the face of the company, and also happens to have a gay brother.

""I know Darren personally, he's a great guy," Cena said. "That's a very bold move for him and congratulations for him for actually doing it, good for him."
