Floyd Mayweather Canelo Fight: Alvarez Predicts Victory Over 'Money' May? Knows Secret To Beating Pound For Pound King Of Boxing

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is a 23-year-old superstar, with a near-spotless record of 42-0-1 with 30 knockouts, and yet entering the biggest fight of his young life he is about a 2.5-to-1 underdog.

That's because he's taking on Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr., the pound-for-pound king of boxing, who boasts a flawless 44-0-0 record with a respectable 26 knockouts.

No wonder Canelo's the underdog.

Alvarez isn't lacking for confidence heading into the September 14th showdown though, boldly predicting that he will be the man to end Mayweather's unbeaten streak. Canelo believes he has the secret to upending the master tactician; forcing Mayweather out of his defensive shell.

"I'm a strong-minded fighter," Alvarez said. "I'm not going to fight the fight he wants me to do. I will fight the fight I need to fight to win."

He continued to display confidence the more he spoke, describing the influx of advice he's received and the need to filter it. He also said he and his camp already have their blueprint for changing the zero in Mayweather's loss column.

"There have been numerous tips and numerous people offering advice," he said. "I appreciate it, because it all comes with good feelings from the heart. But some of it we'll apply and some things we won't. We know what we need to accomplish."

Alvarez has already registered some impressive wins over the likes of Austin "No Doubt" Trout, "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Josesito Lopez. None of those men compare to Mayweather though, which is a fact that Alvarez relishes.

"Every fight brings out something different in me, and it will be no different in this one," Canelo said. "I have learned and gained from all of those experiences. And as I've often said, the public hasn't seen the best of me yet. I need someone like Mayweather to bring that out of me."
