Today at 5:00 p.m. ET from Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh, South Africa and Bangladesh will begin a three-match ODI series that can be live streamed by clicking this link.
South Africa will be without captain AB de Villiers for this match, thanks to a one-game suspension doled out for his slow over-rate during the ICC Cricket World Cup. The captain won't be a part of the squad for any of the three matches in this ODI series, but his suspension was not the only reason to leave him off.
"AB's presence and contributions will be missed but we have a hectic playing schedule this season and we felt this would be a great opportunity to develop the next tier of batters during this series, like we are doing with our bowlers. We would also like to give him the peace of mind of being close to his wife with the imminent birth of his first born child,"South African coach Russell Domingo said.
The absence of de Villiers will be a boon for Bangladesh, who need good results in this ODI series to remain eligible for the 2017 Champions Trophy. Their qualification was suddenly thrown into doubt after a West Indies-Pakistan-Zimbabwe tri-series was announced for next month; now Bangladesh will need to take at least one of these three matches to qualify.
