Tim Tebow Praying For Riley Cooper, Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver Filmed Using N-Word [VIDEO]

Tim Tebow, the NFL's most famous backup quarterback and former teammate of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper, said he is praying for his ex-Gator pal as he tries to put a troubling, racist episode behind him.

Cooper was filmed at a Kenny Chesney concert arguing with a security guard who allegedly would not allow Cooper backstage. As he was being restrained by a friend while visibly intoxicated, Cooper is seen saying "I will jump that fence and fight every n----r here."

Since the video's release, Cooper has apologized profusely, sought counseling, and "lost the respect" of teammate LeSean McCoy. The Eagles and Patriots are holding a joint practice today which will give Tebow a chance to catch up with his old friend.

"I haven't gotten to see him yet today. I'm sure I'll see him soon, but I was definitely praying for him," Tebow said. When asked if Cooper's comments surprised him, Tebow clammed up. "I'm just going to keep our relationship private and that's where I think it needs to be."

Tebow would be smart to remain above this messy fray, seeing as how his hold on a roster spot in New England is rather tenuous. While speculation was rampant that Tebow could replace Aaron Hernandez as a tight end opposite Rob Gronkowski, or serve as a running back or fullback, the team has said that Tebow remains a quarterback.

Currently he is third on the depth chart behind Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett, although sources say he has worked closely with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and seems to be improving his throwing mechanics.

As for Cooper, his spot on the Eagles appears safe. He was viewed as the top option to replace Jeremy Maclin in the starting lineup after Maclin tore his ACL, likely knocking him out for the rest of the season.
