The NBA has unveiled some juicy matchups for October 29th, the night the Association tips off the 2013-2014 season. The LeBron James-led Miami Heat will be the main attraction kicking off the basketball calendar against the Chicago Bulls and returning hero Derrick Rose.
The NBA's triple header begins with the Indiana Pacers, who pushed the Heat to a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Orlando Magic, who will debut the No. 2 pick in the 201 NBA Draft, Victor Oladipo.
Capping off the night will be an all-Los Angeles affair, with Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and brand spanking new head coach Doc Rivers facing off against the Lakers who will have woken up from their Dwight-mare, and may have Kobe Bryant back in action.
The NBA also announced its Christmas schedule, which features a loaded slate of five mouth-watering matchups. The new-look Brooklyn Nets get the Christmas party started against the Bulls at 12:00 p.m. The Oklahoma City Thunder lock horns with the New York Knicks immediately afterward at 2:30 p.m.
The Heat are highlighted again, meeting up against the Lakers in Los Angeles which prompted a funny tweet from forward Shane Battier regarding the schedule release. "The schedule I got said we are on the road for Xmas and Turkey Day. Think I got a bad copy."
Christmas concludes with two Western Conference matchups, the first of which brings NBA fans the "Rocket Man" Dwight Howard, taking on the San Antonio Spurs, followed by a late-night Clippers game against the Golden State Warriors.
ESPN also starts off its regular season schedule with South Beach's Big 3. They will face off against the Nets, directly followed by a Spurs-Lakers matchup. Judging from these primetime matchups, LeBron is still "King," but the NBA thinks Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, and the Brooklyn conglomerate may be fit for runs at the throne.
