The Detroit Tigers (65-45) are on a tear of late, and will try to push the surging Cleveland Indians (62-50) back down the American League Central standings tonight at 7:05 p.m. in Cleveland. The game can be live streamed here; Tigers fans can hear the game if they tune in to 97.1 The Ticket, while Indians fans can do the same on WTAM 1100.

The Tigers are playing extremely good baseball lately, and will send Justin Verlander (11-8, 3.88 ERA) to the mound against Cleveland. Detroit is 9-1 in their last 10 games, but have suffered a major loss thanks to the PED suspension fallout.

Jhonny Peralta, who was batting .305 with 11 home runs and 54 RBI this year, has been suspended for 50 games thanks to his connection with the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic. "It will change the look of our ballclub a little bit, but we'll move on," said Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski. The Tigers were proactive before the trade deadline in anticipation of the suspension, acquiring shortstop Jose Iglesias from the Boston Red Sox.

2013 has been a bit of a wild ride for Verlander, who was considered the best pitcher in baseball entering the year, but has been all over the map from start to start. "I don't think there's been any pitcher in baseball, probably, that's worked as hard as I have this season to try to get things right," Verlander said. "I've given everything I possibly have to try to get things on the right path, and slowly but surely working in the right direction."

Verlander will be up against a very good pitcher in Justin Masterson (13-7, 3.33 ERA). He has given up two runs or fewer in each of his last four starts, and has struck out 29 hitters while walking only nine.
