What They're Saying
Argentina manager Gerardo Martino (via Goal): "The tendency will always be to take risks. The first half against Paraguay wasn't just good. It was very good. We are being judged on our second half and not the first and that is our fault. In the first half we played probably the best football of the first round of the Copa America and in the second half we played the worst. The first half was the best of my time in charge and that helps you to draw conclusions. We could have won 5-2 or 5-3."
Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez (via Goal): "We were not quite there in terms of our delivery, without speaking about particular players. But really, no team ever turns up for the first game in perfect condition, and for that reason I hope that we will improve as the tournament goes on. You cannot draw conclusions on a match-by-match basis, but we need to improve quickly for the Copa. There are things that will be considered both for this competition and for the World Cup qualifiers."
