Antawn Jamison, Los Angeles Lakers Experience Behind Him, Approaching Free Agency With Caution
Free agent forward Antawn Jamison has narrowed his choices to Chicago, Memphis, Charlotte and the Los Angeles Clippers, according to the Sporting News.
Jamieson who played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season insists he is intent on taking his time this offseason and fully considering all his options before determining where he more than likely will finish his near two decades long career.
"I think last year, getting the opportunity to play for the Lakers and their organization, I really jumped into it," Jamison told the website. "Didn't really view my options, but this year I really want to make sure I'm going to the right situation, where I have a good rapport with the coaching staff and also with management. Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it's the perfect fit.”
Like the recently departed Dwight Howard before him, Jamison has been outspoken about problems he had in L.A, in playing in coach Mike D’Antoni’s system and his lack of playing time. His numbers were at their worst, 9.4 points and 4.8 rebounds, since his rookie season.
"It was fun," he said of his time in L.A. but quickly added "there was just a lot of unnecessary nonsense that really prevented us from accomplishing what we could have accomplished. Of course you can't do anything with injuries and the coaches being fired. You see it. Every week there was something new."
Jamison added he plans to make his decision over the next several weeks to allow himself enough time for concentrating on getting ready for training camp.
