Floyd Mayweather Canelo Fight: Lucas Matthysse To Fight Danny Garcia On Undercard, Calls Out "Money" Mayweather Next

On September 14th Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face what is expected to be one of the toughest, if not the toughest test of his illustrious career when he steps into the ring with undefeated Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

On the undercard, the "Argentine Machine" Lucas Matthysse will have his hands full with undefeated 140-lb. Danny Garcia, in what will be the biggest bout of Matthysse's career. Matthysse seems confident he will overcome the champion from Philadelphia, however, since he is apparently looking to the future.

"I've heard that the winner between me and Garcia might be fighting Mayweather," said Matthysse. "Now, the winner is going to be me, so I don't think I'll have any problems at 147 pounds, because I have to do a special job and a different sort of training to get the power at 147, but I will have the power there as well."

Matthysse certainly has no problem with power. In his most recent fight he demolished a quality 140-lb. fighter and former champion in Lamont Peterson in just three rounds of one-sided action. At 34-2, with 32 knockouts, Matthysse has a legitimate claim as the most powerful pound-for-pound puncher in the sport. In 2011, he devastated Demarcus Corley with that thunder in knocking him down an astounding nine times before the fight was stopped in the eighth round.

Matthysse did show some respect to Garcia, and said he isn't necessarily looking past his undefeated challenger. You know, what? Danny Garcia is a very strong fighter compared to the rest of the guys that I've faced. I can't compare him to Zab Judah or Devon Alexander or Lamont Peterson, who are boxers, because Garcia's a real brawler who comes directly to the fighter," Matthysse said.

"He's not a boxer. He wants to explode his power, and that's it. He likes to exchange big punches, so he's strong, and that's all that I see about him. I don't see anything special about him. So I don't fear him. I can handle his power."
