Aaron Hernandez Case: Police Searching Connecticut Lake For Odin Lloyd Murder Weapon, .45 Caliber Glock

Massachusetts investigators are combing a lake near the home of former NFL star Aaron Hernandez in hopes of recovering the murder weapon used in the Odin Lloyd slaying, according to news reports.

Crews were busy searching nearby Pine Lake early Monday, following up on a tip the .45 caliber glock may have been tossed there after it was used to pump at least five bullets in Lloyd on the night of June 26. Police were also in Connecticut much of last week searching for clues they hope will bolster their first-degree murder case against the former New England Patriots star.

Police have speculated that Hernandez was motivated by his growing belief he could no longer trust Lloyd, who some believe may have had information about other crimes Hernandez was involved in. In addition to the Lloyd murder charge, Hernandez is also facing a grand jury probe now hearing testimony about his possible involvement in a still unsolved 2012 still double homicide in Boston.

The Patriots have severed all ties with the 23-year-old tight end and last week management withheld a bonus he was due for taking part in an offseason conditioning program. Hernandez remains jailed without bond in the Lloyd killing.
