New York Yankees News: Former Star Teammate 'Really Don't' Think A-Rod Deserves To Be In Hall of Fame [VIDEO]

Jorge Posada and Alex Rodriguez played on one World Series championship team and a host of AL East divisional championship teams together, but the former Yankees catcher had some harsh words for the 39-year-old slugger this week.

Posada, who is due to get his number retired by the Bombers this summer, told CBS that A-Rod's history of steroid use should bar him from Cooperstown.

“I don’t think it’s fair,” Posada told reporter Mark Strassman. “I really don’t. I think the guys that need to be in the Hall of Fame need to be a player that played with no controversy.”

Posada's opinion isn't a controversial one. In fact it's shared by the majority of baseball fans, especially the Puritanical BBWA (the actual journalists who control the voting process). One need look no further than Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, and Barry Bonds' absence from the Hall of Fame to realize Alex Rodriguez is probably headed for a similar fate.

However, Posada's candor is striking less for its content than its speaker. If A-Rod doesn't even have the support of the other Yankee greats he played with, he truly is alone on an island out there.

If he keeps bashing taters, however, Yankee fans won't care one iota.
