Today at 3:35 p.m. the Minnesota Twins (43-54) will attempt to complete a three-game road sweep of the Los Angeles Angels (46-52), and the Halos continue to sleepwalk through a second disappointing season. The game can be live streamed here; Twins fans can tune in to the action on 96.3 K-Twin, while Angels fans can do the same by turning their dials to KLAA 830.

Despite MVP-caliber production from Mike Trout, who is approaching the pace of his historic rookie campaign in 2012, the Angels have been unable to gain any traction this season. They are losers of three straight games, and are 3-7 in their last 10 games.

They will look to avoid an embarrassing sweep today with staff ace Jered Weaver (4-5, 3.30 ERA) on the hill. Weaver's most recent outing was a domination of the Oakland A's over 6.2 innings. Despite a decline in his already-middling velocity, Weaver has been able to think his way through most games.

"You want to try to utilize all your pitches throughout the course of a game," Weaver said. "Certain pitches weren't there early, but I was able to get them later on. Slider was really effective, was able to throw that to both lefties and righties."

The Twins will be without catcher Joe Mauer, who is at home with his wife who just gave birth to twins last night. Without their best hitter, Minnesota will look to stay hot by riding the good vibes of their happy star. The Twins have been victorious in six of their last seven games, but still find themselves a ways away from a surprise playoff berth.

Today Mike Pelfrey (4-7, 5.40 ERA) will toe the rubber against Weaver. Despite ugly overall numbers, Pelfrey is 1-1 with a sub-3.00 ERA over his last three starts. In his last start he went just 5.2 innings against the Cleveland Indians, but surrendered just two runs.

"I think for as bad mechanically as I felt, I thought I grinded," Pelfrey said. "I'd prefer not to grind. I'd prefer to have some clean innings, some smooth innings. But there's going to be days like this, and you can't just give up."
