Derrick Rose Dunks In Madrid,Team USA Basketball Comes Calling [VIDEO]

The Derrick Rose comeback bandwagon is picking up steam fast.

On the same day video emerged showing the Chicago Bulls star dunking a basketball while tearing with adidas in Madrid, came word Team USA is hoping to have the former league MVP competing in the FIBA World Championships in the summer of 2014.

With both LeBron James and Kevin Durant said to be contemplating taking the summer off and not returning to international play until the 2016 Rio Olympics, USA Basketball president Jerry Colangelo and Coach Mike Krzyzewski  are thought to be leaning toward fielding an athletic, running team that’s also capable of exerting non-stop defensive pressure.

Both envision Rose as fitting the mold to a tee. “It’s really up to him,” Colangelo told ProBasketballTalk.com. “We’re waiting for him to come back. But we very much consider him a candidate.”

The fact that Rose is again appearing on anyone’s hoops radar rates as positive news for Bulls fans, who were forced to watch in angst all of last season as the homegrown star was forced to the sidelines all of 2012-13 season recuperating from the ACL tear he suffered earlier in the year.

Rose recently pronounced himself “100 percent” and “able to play in the first game of the season. We will play in Rio de Janeiro,” he said of the team’s October 12, preseason opener and first NBA game to ever be played in Rio. “So, that’s going to be a big game not only for the Bulls but for the NBA.”
